Love Gas campaign faces court over greenwashing allegations
Australia’s natural gas industry is under scrutiny as the ACCC takes the ‘Love Gas’ ad campaign to court. Australian Gas Networks (AGN) ran the ads between 2022 and 2023, claiming that its gas supply would become a clean energy source within a generation.
The Federal Court case alleges the ads breach consumer law by falsely implying that gas use is environmentally sustainable, despite gas being a fossil fuel with a significant carbon output.
While AGN denies the allegations of deceptive advertising, this case could set a key precedent for how energy companies communicate their sustainability claims.
The Project’s replacement and podcast launches
Network 10’s new current affairs program, 10News+, which launched as a replacement for The Project, faced criticism for lacking personality, fetching low ratings following its recent debut. Despite exclusive interviews and an appearance from Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, the program attracted fewer than 100,000 viewers nationally – numbers well below The Project’s usual audience.
The Nine Network has launched a new weekly podcast, Todays Take, focused on offering deeper insights into Australia’s top news stories. Hosted by Jayne Azzopardi, it will feature conversations revealing the behind-the-scenes details often missed on air. The show will be available on all major listening platforms including Spotify and Apple.
Former ABC journalist, Antoinette Lattouf, and award-winning reporter, Jan Fran have launched an independent podcast, titled We Used to Be Journos. The duo has teamed up to tackle media bias, misinformation, and the loss of public trust in journalism. Together, they aim to offer clear, candid discussions to help listeners better understand and navigate todays challenging media environment.
Canva integrates AI to redefine the creative tech industry
Canva has made an innovative move as the first design platform to natively integrate OpenAI’s ChatGPT. The platform has also updated its new Model Content Protocol (MCP) server, which enables AI assistants to access a user’s entire Canva workspace during interactions. This is designed to help AI create on-brand designs more efficiently and with fewer steps, making the technology a smarter creative partner for users.
