Insights and strategy drive surge in grants program applications

Since 2012, the Rheem Apprentice Plumbers Grants (RAPG) program has celebrated the future of plumbing by recognising the hard work and commitment of apprentice plumbers and gasfitters who are vital to the industry’s talent pipeline.

Having worked with Rheem on the program since 2020, IMPACT’s objectives this year were to increase application completions, overall rates, and submissions from all states and territories.

Using insights from previous years, IMPACT developed a three-pronged strategy to connect with apprentices, targeting more than 40 education and training facilities, leveraging Rheem’s state ambassador network with employers and merchants, supported by a comprehensive earned and social media campaign.

The campaign achieved:

  • 338 completed applications – the highest number of submissions ever received.
  • More than 34 million in media and social reach – a 22 per cent year-on-year increase.
  • Commentary in media coverage highlighting the impact of the current economic climate on trainees and the financial realities of undertaking apprenticeships, further reinforcing Rheem’s commitment to supporting the plumbing industry.
