Young chefs on ABC Canberra
Rising culinary talents Bella Pinzon, Byrne Melville, and Savannah Caravalho stepped into the spotlight on ABC Radio Canberra, with Saturday Breakfast Show host Emma Bickley.
The trio, who recently competed in the Canberra leg of the Nestlé Golden Chef’s Hat Award cook-off on 29 July, a vital platform for emerging talent in the foodservice industry, shared insights into the creativity driving the next generation of chefs.
During the live interview, the young chefs spoke about how they discovered the competition, what inspired them to enter, and their goals for the future, from working in prestigious international kitchens to running their own restaurants.
They also offered a preview of how the chefs would integrate Nestlé Professional products into their two-course menu that would showcase their innovation and technical skills.
Nestlé Professional is an IMPACT client.
The 65th Annual Logie Awards
The 65th Annual TV Week Logie Awards was held at The Star in Sydney, which recognised standout achievements across Australian television, drawing a strong mix of industry figures and viewers.
Netflix’s Apple Cider Vinegar led the nominations with eight across multiple categories. However, ABC’s comedy series Fisk emerged as the top winner, taking home Best Scripted Comedy Program, Lead Actress, Lead Actor, Best Supporting Actor, and Best Supporting Actress.
A Hall of Fame induction was presented to Kath & Kim star, Magda Szubanski, who is currently undergoing treatment for stage four mantle cell lymphoma. Szubanski, unable to attend in person, accepted via a pre-recorded video message and thanked the public for their continued support.
The event’s top honour, the Gold Logie for Most Popular Personality on Australian Television, was awarded to Lynne McGranger. Best known for her long-standing role on the Seven Network’s Home and Away, McGranger was recognised for her 33-year contribution to Australian drama television.
The Australian goes digital with new Wealth section
In response to increasing reader interest in personal finance, The Australian has launched Wealth – a new digital-first section aimed at helping Australians make more informed financial decisions during uncertain economic times.
The new section will feature expert commentary and advice across a range of financial topics, including planning, investment, management and wealth creation on The Australian’s app and website.
Following the launch of its Health & Wellbeing digital-first section in November 2024, Wealth is designed to strengthen the outlet’s value to both subscribers and advertising partners by addressing a high-demand topic.
The digital content offering will be led by Wealth editor Julie-anne Sprague, along with associate editor James Kirby, personal finance writer Anthony Keane, and news producer and digital journalist Megan Neil.
New Instagram analytics and indexing
Instagram has begun testing a new post analytics feature aimed at giving brands and creators deeper insights into their content performance.
The tool will specify the image or video within a carousel post a user was viewing when they tapped the like button. By offering a clearer understanding of the content resonating most with audiences, users will be better equipped to tailor future posts, refine storytelling, and improve engagement strategies.
Similar functionality will also be available for Reels, allowing users to pinpoint the exact moment in a video when someone liked the content.
This follows Instagram’s recent Google indexing of public profiles, giving businesses a new way to show up in search results in lieu of a traditional website. The change has effectively turned Instagram into a hybrid social and search platform.
