The festive season in Australia is expected to hit wallets harder this year, due to the escalating cost of living. Many families will be finding that prices for Christmas essentials such as ham, cheese and seafood are on the rise.
When it comes to presents, however, many shoppers may have jumped in early, with Australia Post processing a record 53.5 million parcels in November for Black Friday. Fashion was the most popular category followed by athleisure, footwear, sporting and outdoor goods.
Garnier partners with the Great Barrier Reef Foundation to fight climate change
Beauty brand Garnier has partnered with the Great Barrier Reef Foundation for their ‘Plant A Coral’ campaign. For every Garnier product purchased at Coles, Garnier has pledged to plant a baby coral, to help restore damaged coral reefs, aiming to disperse 500,000 onto damaged areas of the UNESCO World Heritage Site using an innovative technique called Coral IVF.
PRIA launches Global Women in PR Australia group
The Public Relations Institute of Australia (PRIA) has officially launched their Global Women in PR (GWPR) Australia, aimed at empowering women in the PR and communications field.
This initiative, led by a remarkable committee comprising of sector leaders, will advocate for greater diversity, leadership and gender parity in the industry. The group’s first event attracted over 80 professionals, with Michelle Hutton presenting insights from the 5th Annual GWPR Global Index Survey.
Google loses antitrust court battle
Over in the United States, a jury has ruled this week that Google violated antitrust law against Epic Games and other developers on its Play mobile app, potentially transforming the way businesses earn from the Android operating system.
This decision could mean that Google will be forced to alter its Play Store rules, allowing other companies to offer competing app stores and making it easier for developers to avoid the cut Google collects from in-app purchases.
